There are so many driving instructors around nowadays it is hard to choose who will be the best to help you prepare for your practical test. When I turned 17 I did not have a clue who would be the best for my needs. I asked around my friends, as I was one of the last to turn 17 and a lot of them had already began lessons with a variety of driving instructors, to try and find out who would be best to use.

I finally decided to go with the instructor that my best friend used and who helped him pass his test relatively quickly. His name was Steve and he was very helpful during my first few lessons, helping me calm my nerves and giving great advice. He also told me some astonishing stories about other driving instructors that would make your blood boil.

He said that some would not put their pupils in for the practical test, as they could earn a lot more money from them having extra lessons. I was gobsmacked at the thought of that. Steve said that driving instructors like that gave the whole profession a bad name and did nothing for the image of motoring.

I kept taking lessons with Steve and became more and more proficient. I was shocked after a couple of months when he said I should see about doing my theory test as he thought I would be set to do my practical test within the next couple of weeks.

I passed the theory test relatively easy and Steve put me in for my practical test. Before my test Steve was nice enough to clear his whole morning for me so he could give me a lot of last minute coaching- I doubt a lot of driving instructors would of done such a thing to be honest and as a result I was very confident when I went to do my test.

Around forty minutes or so later I came back from my test and to my great delight I had passed with flying colours. Steve was just excited as me and give me a huge hug and slapped me on the back,

However the best surprise of all happened when I got home and told my parents that I had passed my test. As a reward they said they were going to buy me my first ever car. You should of seen the grin on my face when they told me that.
